We're setting up a U.S. shop under our German parent company and have some questions about the accounting aspect. Stuff like dealing with consolidation, GAAP, payroll, and how foreign exchange affects advances. Has anyone else done this before and can offer some advice?

That can be a little tricky. You'll want to make sure your US accounting lines up with the parent's standards, whether thats GAAP or IFRS. For payroll, work with a local provider who knows US rules. Foreign exchange on advances can mess with your numbers, so track those very closely and handle currency changes properly. Honestly, getting help from someone who's done cross border accounting before can save a lot of headaches
