I recently started working with a small business and things have been a bit weird. Going through the books I noticed some expenses which seemed off. Parking tickets, restaurants, hotels, some activities and similar all of which were labeled as business trips. Nothing unusual about that, but most of those overlap with personal travels of the business owner. Should I mention this to someone? Ask or keep quiet and let it go?

Yep, that sounds shady. Since you're new, maybe casually ask the owner about the "business trip" documentation for those overlapping expenses. whatever it is, it's best to quietly document what you've seen without directly accusing anyone yet. you might need it someday

Yeah, I'm making sure to keep my ass covered and have the owner sign off on everything before I do anything. Not trying to get anyone into trouble, but I don't want to get myself into one as well.

I'll try to talk to him when he's in a good mood and preferably has some free time about this.
